Experiencing some type of anxiety is a normal part of life. These thoughts control how we interface with others. People that have anxiety disorders frequently go through feelings of intense and persistent worry about their everyday situations. These intense feelings of anxiety, fear and or terror can eventually lead to developing panic attacks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is Anxiety?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On a clinical level,\u202fanxiety\u202frefers to the state of extreme worry, fear, and panic most of your day.\u202fTrivial situations &#8212; or even in the anticipation of situations that have not happened &#8212; will trigger these feelings in someone with a clinical\u202fanxiety disorder. Anxiety is a multisystem response to a perceived threat or danger. It reflects a combination of biochemical changes in the body.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Are there different types of Anxiety?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The six main types of Anxiety Disorders include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/anxiety\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Generalized Anxiety Disorder<\/strong><\/a> <strong>(<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/anxiety\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>GAD<\/strong><\/a><strong>):<\/strong> It is a long-term disorder that makes a person inappropriately anxious in mundane situations. People with GAD are anxious most of the time and seldom remember when they last felt relaxed. They feel constantly worried, restless and find it hard to concentrate on work.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/panic_attacks_disorder_quiz\/quiz.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Panic Disorder<\/strong><\/a>: It manifests as sudden, intense fear associated with profuse <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/hyperhidrosis_sweating_pictures_slideshow\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sweating<\/a>, restlessness, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/chest_pain\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">chest pain<\/a> and a racing or pounding heartbeat (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/palpitations_overview\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">palpitations<\/a>) often mimicking a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/heart_attack\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">heart attack<\/a>. People with panic disorder may experience anxiety or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/panic_disorder\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">panic attacks<\/a> which are extreme and intense periods of restlessness or fear that affect associated with a pounding heartbeat, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/sweating_perspiration_quiz\/quiz.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sweating<\/a>, trembling, sensations of choking or being unable to breathe, extreme <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/nausea_and_vomiting\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nausea<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/dizziness_dizzy\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dizziness<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/tightness_in_chest\/symptoms.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">chest tightness<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/pain_management\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pain<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/phobias_picture_slideshow\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Social Phobia<\/strong><\/a><strong> or Social Anxiety<\/strong>: Feeling of overwhelming worry and self-consciousness about everyday social situations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/plague_facts\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plague<\/a> people with social anxiety. A typical variant is selective <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/loss_of_speech\/symptoms.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mutism<\/a>, which may be often seen in kids who are confident in front of their family, but may not speak at all in school or other places. Though many people may feel anxious about speaking in public, social anxiety involves extreme and irrational fear and anxiousness of facing people.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\"><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/separation_anxiety\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Separation Anxiety<\/strong><\/a><strong>:<\/strong> It happens when a loved one leaves. It is often seen in small children who feel scared or anxious when a parent leaves for work, for example. It can also affect adults who worry that something bad may happen to their loved ones when they are out of sight. People with separation anxiety fear being alone. They may even find it difficult to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/sleep\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\">sleep<\/a> when they are away from home or their loved ones.&nbsp;<\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/phobias\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Phobias<\/strong><\/a><strong>:<\/strong> They are excessive fears about a specific situation or object. The fear or anxiety is markedly disproportional to the actual threat involved. Common <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/phobias_picture_slideshow\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\">phobias<\/a> include <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/agoraphobia\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\">agoraphobia<\/a> (intense fear of being in open, crowded places), <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/phobias_picture_slideshow\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\">acrophobia<\/a> (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/phobias_picture_slideshow\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\">fear of heights<\/a>) and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/phobias_picture_slideshow\/article.htm\" target=\"_blank\">claustrophobia<\/a> (fear of enclosed places). Common anxiety signs and symptoms include:&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Feeling nervous, restless, or tense&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Having a sense of impending danger, panic, or doom&nbsp;<\/li><li>Having an increased heart rate&nbsp;<\/li><li>Breathing rapidly (hyperventilation)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Sweating&nbsp;<\/li><li>Trembling&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Feeling weak or tired&nbsp;<\/li><li>Trouble concentrating or thinking about anything other than the present worry&nbsp;<\/li><li>Having trouble sleeping&nbsp;<\/li><li>Experiencing gastrointestinal (GI) problems&nbsp;<\/li><li>Having difficulty controlling worry&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Having the urge to avoid things that trigger anxiety\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is Your Next Step?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are not alone!
